How To Improve The Practice Of Entrepreneurial Training And The Motivation Of Young People To Self-Employment

– By Tommaso Di Nardo (Tommasodinardo@Gmail.Com)

PROMOTE AND IMPROVE THE TRAINING AND ENTREPRENEURIAL ORIENTATION OF YOUNG NEETS (NOT (ENGAGED) IN EDUCATION, EMPLOYMENT OR TRAINING). Entrepreneurial training is practiced everywhere in the world and there are many actors involved and projects implemented both in schools and universities. Yet, young NEETs are still many and, above all, in Southern Italy they reach truly impressive (and unbearable) numbers: 3 million and 85 thousand young people in Italy (25.1%) of which 1 million and 648 thousand in the South ( 36.1%) (Istat, Year 2020). Most of the training projects born around self-entrepreneurship are characterized by standard contents almost always limited to the more traditional aspects of the business plan and often aimed exclusively at finding subsidized loans. Furthermore, the problem of NEETs often remains trapped within the procedures created by the specific public policies adopted to deal with them. Just look at the results and processes underlying the Youth Guarantee program which has obvious operational limitations along with some positive applications. There are two main risks of the NEET theme: the first is that of creating a negative social segmentation which, instead of creating trust, pushes young people to get depressed and worsen their condition (social, economic and cultural) and the second is to feed a welfare opportunism to the extent that cash payments are provided for participation in training courses or internships. The STREETS “Synergic Training to Enhance Entrepreneurial and Technological Skills” project intends to contribute to the practice of entrepreneurial training for young people by acting above all on motivational aspects and experimenting with new forms of entrepreneurship orientation. The challenge is amplified by the NEET requirement that the young recipients of the project must possess. STREETS does not provide for cash payments to participants and has the goal of studying the best forms of involving young people while at the same time acting on local and transnational networks. In addition, STREETS links entrepreneurial training, in addition to the aforementioned motivational theme, to the theme of the digital transition for businesses and social innovation with applications in the field of digital making design, prototyping and 3D printing. STREETS is a project funded by Erasmus + under the KA210 Action. A NETWORK WORK IN THE TERRITORY OF GIUGLIANO IN CAMPANIA. STREETS was born from a collaboration between AES – Economics and Development APS and the INVIVO association, dedicated to promoting innovation and digital culture. A collaboration born as part of the activities promoted by HUB Spa, the coworking / incubator, research and promotion center of social innovation, founded in Giugliano in Campania ten years ago by a group of over 60 subjects including professionals, entrepreneurs, managers and teachers between Naples and Caserta. After a first experience of entrepreneurial training dedicated to startups promoted and implemented by HUB Spa in 2014 with HUB StartUp School, in 2015 AES Economia e Sviluppo was born and the Giugliano Scuola di Impresa project which involves numerous local stakeholders including several companies in the Area of Industrial Development of Giugliano-Qualiano. The school was immediately characterized by a strong possibilist imprint.
